With Virtual DJ it has it all with effects on your computer and you can mix Video too with transition effects with speed adjustment to bar mix. So I think as most do "Virtual DJ" is the best to use in these situations (Digital Music) I've used PCDJ Red & MX BPM studion and I find that Virtual DJ is the most versitile computer program that has it all. All my music is also programed in Virtual DJ so it also has all the BPM's for the songs listed too forthe old fashioned DJ's who still use BPM's. Also some new DJ's say they just use thier ear Bullshit. you can not list in your head a thousand songs and know which one mixes with theothers. I go to the WMC Miami every year and 70% of the DJs I have seen use Serato the rest uses Traktor et I saw one guy use VirtualDJ (told me he was changing to Serato). If you go to the European countries its a little different...its Traktor then VirtualDJ then Serato. I have a Mac book Pro and an iMac and have Traktor synced together so it is like playing with 8 tracks (still needs adjustment on the midi side for cue points). I want to buy and try Serato to see the differene between Serato and Traktor. Until then I can't give an objective opinion on Serato. Here is a list of DJs using Traktor.... Richie Hawtin, BT, Deadmau5, Pete Tong, Dubfire, James Zabiela, Carl Cox (one of the oldest DJ on the professional scene), Grandmaster Flash. DJ Rafik and this is only to name some of the most well known DJs. If you look at the list of Known DJs for Serato, most are scratcher....so I think you need to determine WHAT sector you want to mix in and use the appropriate software. Just a side note. Last year at the WMC I talked to about 200+ DJs and producerds and found that 95% of them were using Macs Logic Studio...All those that were using Pro Tools were changing to Logic Studio and found one or two that was using FL Studio, Reason or Cubase. I have been DJing for 27 years now. I mixed on 4 turntables at one time. Play record backward and won many beatmixing DJ competitions. I use Traktor with 4 tracks and 2 Eks Otus as controller and yes the SYNC part of mixing is a no brainer...but still you still need to know WHERE to mix, how to use affect, how to use volume and parts of other songs to be creative. If beatmixing is all you take pride in doing when mixing well you've got a long way to go. What technology did was make the DJ REAL artists because no two DJ mixes the SAME song exactly alike. Give a list of 10 song to 100 DJs force them to mix then in the exact same order and they will ALL be different from CREATIVE DJ but boring as hell from strict beat mixers. I still mix records and have my original 2 grey SL1200s from the 80 with Shure SC35. They will be baried with me but am so much better as an ARTIST with the new DJ software. When competition increases from all the new digital DJs, it will force you to improve your skills to set yourself apart from them. Many old school professional jocks have made the switch, but you can bet they still drop the hard-to-find classic tracks on vinyl. You can also bet they are still buying up vinyl for their personal collection.
