A DJ mixer is an important part of an equipment setup. It's how a DJ is able to manipulate sound, creating a danceable sonic atmosphere. We've used and abused many DJ mixers over the years, and the following list are our favorites for a couple different price points. No matter what your budget, you should be able to find something that works for you.

Skinny Budget DJ Mixer

Numark DXM06

The Numark DXM06 is a 2-Channel Digital DJ Mixer. It is nice and small, letting it fit into tight home DJ booths. The mixer has built in limiting, a full 3-band EQ. The EQ even includes full frequency kill! You also get RCA record outputs, for easily recording your demo CD. There are some pretty good special FX built in as well, like echo, phaser, and a vocoder too. You get quite a bit of mixer for the price, that's why it's our favorite low budget DJ mixer. Perfect for beginner DJs who can't afford to spend a lot.

Healthy Budget DJ Mixer

Vestax PMC 280

The Vestax PMC 280 is loaded for it's price! A full 4 channel mixer, a must for using both turntables and CD players effortlessly. It comes with an amazing 16 onboard digital effects, each with 2 adjustable parameters. A major upgrade in sound quality, it also has flexibility with XLR outputs as well as RCA, letting you hook up to more expensive & powerfull speaker systems with ease. I have always been a big fan a Vestax mixers, and love using them. Good quality that will last for a long time.

Phat Budget DJ Mixer

Pioneer DJM 600

The Pioneer DJM 600 is one of the nightclub industry's staple pieces of equipment. If you know this mixer like the back of your hand, you'll feel at home at most of the world's nightclubs. Full of high end, accurate special effects, a crossfader that will withstand drink spills, record box impacts, and most anything you can throw at it. It has a digital Beats Per Minute readout too. XLR connections. Full split cue section, letting you mix only in your headphones to keep the neighbors from calling the police when you practice your routine. A bit more pricey, but this thing will last forever.
